The challenge
The Canadian Neonatal Point of Care Ultrasound Society (CNPOCUS) is a not-for-profit run by neonatal clinicians who educate healthcare teams caring for newborns and preterm babies around the world. Running international conferences, webinars, workshops and a diploma programme takes a lot of technology: registrations, payments, programmes, content delivery, member accounts and the clinical calculators and decision tools that clinicians use at the bedside. The society needed a partner who could build all of that, keep it running on a not-for-profit budget, and look after the organisation's own IT as well.
What we did
We have worked with CNPOCUS since 2020 as their technology team:
- Event management tools for conferences, webinars, workshops and the diploma programme: registration, payments, schedules, speaker and session management, attendee communication and on-the-day operations
- Scientific calculators and clinical decision-making tools used by neonatologists, built for accuracy, reviewed with the clinicians who use them and designed to work on a phone at the bedside
- Websites for the society and its events, with content the committee can manage themselves
- Managed IT for the organisation: Microsoft 365, security, email and support for a volunteer-led, distributed team across time zones
The results
Successive conferences, webinars and workshops have run on the systems we built and support, the calculators and decision tools are part of the society's educational toolkit, and the organisation has had a stable technology partner through six years of growth. We work the way a not-for-profit needs: practical, cost-aware and reliable, with the clinicians' time spent on medicine rather than software.
