The challenge
Desol Group is a small, privately owned Melbourne business that has specialised in heavy automotive maintenance and repairs since 2001. Like many workshops, its technology had been assembled piece by piece, and the first thing to give was email. Their business email hosting had become unreliable, and for a business that quotes, invoices and books jobs by email, that was a daily problem. They needed it fixed properly, and they needed someone they could trust with the rest of their IT: a mix of Windows computers, iPads and MacBooks, printers, and the files and records the business runs on.
What we did
We started with the email and the relationship grew from there:
- Migration to Microsoft 365 business email, moving every mailbox off the failing host with no lost mail and setting up the domain, security and multi-factor authentication properly
- Managed IT service from May 2023, after the owners saw how the migration was handled and asked us to take on everything else
- Microsoft Teams for the team's communication and file sharing
- Backup for Microsoft 365 data and business files, so a deleted mailbox or a failed device is an inconvenience rather than a crisis
- Apple Business Manager and Intune so the iPads and MacBooks are enrolled, configured and protected alongside the Windows computers, from one console
- Printers, devices and day-to-day support, with one helpdesk for anything that stops working
- Procurement, sourcing and setting up new computers, tablets and peripherals when the business needs them
The results
Email has been reliable since the day of the migration, and Desol Group has not had to think about IT since. Every device, Windows and Apple, is managed, backed up and protected, printers and equipment are our problem rather than theirs, and new devices arrive ready to use. The owners now run any decision that touches technology past us before acting on it, which is the kind of partnership a managed service is meant to be.
